The St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel - formerly ‘The Midland Grand’ - was designed by renowned Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened in 1873. After lying empty since 1985, the building’s fabric had become badly damaged through vandalism and general neglect.
Locker & Riley were called in to expertly restore the fine original features of this impressive Grade 1 listed property whilst incorporating modern fire protection measures
Returning the building’s plasterwork to it’s beautiful Gothic glory, we provided flawless restoration work to lime plaster ceilings, walls and mouldings for the new Gilbert Scott Restaurant and surrounding areas.
Retaining the breathtaking grandeur of one of the building’s finest show pieces, the restaurant boasts exquisite gilded mouldings and ornate ceiling details that bring back the original Victorian splendour of the building and provide a perfect setting for Michelin Star chef Marcus Wareing’s fine dining experience.
