The Iconic KOKO London Restoration

  • Location Camden Town London
  • Services Restoration and Reinstatement of Decorative Plasterwork
  • Contractor Make One
  • Architect Archer Humphryes Architects

Locker & Riley were honoured to contribute to the restoration of KOKO, one of London’s most iconic music venues. Renowned for its rich heritage and legendary performances, the project spanned seven years of planning, restoration, and redesign.

In 2020, a devastating fire caused extensive damage to the main auditorium dome, followed by significant water damage from over 150,000 litres used in firefighting efforts. The ornate plasterwork required a comprehensive survey and cataloguing.

Our works included the complete replication of the main ceiling, drawing upon all aspects of the company, including design, modelling, moulding making, casting and site installation.

Our team carefully removed samples for replication and reinstatement, while other areas underwent meticulous in-situ restoration and repairs to stabilise the damaged plasterwork.

We are immensely proud to have played a role in preserving the legacy of this legendary venue.
