Locker & Riley is delighted to have been part of an extraordinary project, bringing 18th-century elegance to life for a client with a meticulous eye for detail. Under the expert guidance of renowned architect Francis Terry, we undertook this comprehensive project that called for a true understanding of the intricate rococo plasterwork style pioneered by the La Francini Brothers. The La Francini Brothers, Swiss-born artisans, are celebrated for their contribution to Ireland's Palladian houses, including the iconic Castledown House.

Our work involved interpreting Francis Terry’s highly detailed drawings, beginning with intricate clay models to capture the essence of rococo stucco. These designs were then carefully cast into fibrous plaster panels to be shipped and installed in Ireland, embodying the grace and authenticity of 18th-century craftsmanship.

To ensure a flawless installation, each piece was meticulously crafted, checked, and set out in our Essex workshop before safe transport to the site. The result is a beautifully hand-crafted display of plaster wall and ceiling decoration, paying homage to the skills of past artisans and preserving the historical splendour for future generations.
